We are happy to be resuming our usual bimonthly outreach giving program!

In September and October 2020, our focus is The Family Center (TFC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization founded in 2000 by our very own Diane Strickler. TFC’s mission is to provide resources and preventative education to empower families to successfully navigate life’s social, emotional, and physical challenges.

TFC has a far-reaching, multigenerational approach to service. Devoted to not just one demographic or area of interest, it exists for the purpose of strengthening both the family and the family-community relationship. TFC’s dynamic programing covers a wide spectrum of topics, providing guidance and resources for those in all stages of life.

TFC has many popular programs that run annually, such as Kindergarten preparedness and the drop-in play program, “Play Central.” It is the organization’s ability to pivot and adapt to the community’s changing needs, however, that render its programs so relevant and timely. Recent examples of programs include: the dangers of vaping; suicide prevention; caring for loved ones with dementia; and helping children cope with tragedy and loss. In fall 2020, the programming center on Cultivating Resilience in the Midst of Uncertainty with four main topics to be covered (Your Child's Brain on COVID, Resilience through Parenting Skills, Use Isolation in Resilience, and Marriage Resilience during COVID).

Of special note, in addition to Diane, Cathy Leverenz served as president of TFC for three years, and currently she and John are 2020 TFC ambassadors.

Please consider giving to The Family Center, to support the myriad ways in which it enriches our community at large. Please note: Outreach donations will resume being collected at church. Please mail your gifts to the church office and indicate “The Family Center” as the recipient.

With our thanks,
